This document presents the logical foundation of a language system reconstructed from ancient Hebrew and extended from first principles. It is not a teaching grammar. It is the architecture from which a teaching grammar will be built.

The vision

The problem with every modern language

Every language spoken today is the product of historical accident — words borrowed, corrupted, compounded, and improvised across centuries and cultures. English alone draws from Latin, French, Germanic, Greek, and dozens of other sources, producing a vocabulary of 700,000+ words with no coherent internal structure. Two words can mean nearly the same thing for no principled reason. The same word can mean opposite things depending on context. Precision requires more words, and more words compound the problem.

More critically, no modern language can express what we most need to express. The deepest insights of mathematics, physics, and consciousness describe a reality that human language was never built to handle. This is not inevitable. It is a consequence of how our languages developed — by accumulation rather than by design.

An ancient foundation

The Hebrew text of what is commonly called the Old Testament contains 186,000 words. One scholar — Craig Winn — has spent decades producing more than 35,000 pages of translation and commentary on those words. The expansion ratio of more than 56 to 1 is not the product of verbosity. It reflects the extraordinary compression of the source.

The language underlying this text — ancient, unpointed Hebrew — is built on a foundation that no modern language shares. Twenty-two letters, each carrying a stable, physical, irreducible meaning grounded in what it originally depicted. Three-letter verbal roots whose meanings emerge from the intersection of their constituent letter meanings in a specific order. Every word in the system is internally transparent — derivable by anyone who knows the primitives, without needing to have encountered that specific word before.

Of the 9,240 mathematically possible three-letter roots, only 1,500 to 2,000 are attested in the Biblical text. The remaining 7,000+ are not gaps. They are reserved space — a generative capacity built into the foundation, waiting for the knowledge that would require it.

A converging mathematical framework

Independently, over more than forty years, a discrete mathematical framework has been developed that extends and completes research begun by Ben Iverson — a civil engineer who challenged calculus as the foundation of physics. The core insight is that the universe is discrete, not continuous. The convergence of the linguistic and mathematical frameworks is not coincidental: a language built on discrete, compositional, transparent primitives is structurally isomorphic to a discrete mathematical system. Thinking in such a language and doing the mathematics would not be separate activities.

The recovery project

Phonetic reconstruction
Establishes one letter, one sound, always — grounding pronunciation in articulatory physics rather than in the Masoretic pointing system added a thousand years after the text was written. This reconstruction is being seeded publicly through recordings of the Psalms sung with reconstructed pronunciation. This is the part the converter on this site implements.
Lexicon project
Systematically matching Craig Winn's transliterations against Strong's Hebrew dictionary entries across thousands of words, building the bridge between his translations and the formal root structure of the language.
Database architecture

Section 1 — The six foundational axioms

Everything in this language derives from six axioms. No grammatical rule, no word form, no structural decision is valid unless it can be traced back to these statements.

  1. The three unities

    Sound, glyph, and meaning are one thing expressed in three dimensions. A letter is simultaneously a sound produced by the human vocal apparatus, a visual form derived from a physical referent, and a meaning carried by that referent. These three cannot be separated without destroying the letter.

  2. The generative grammar axiom

    Every grammatical function in this language is the logical operation of the letter that performs it. No grammatical function is assigned by convention. Every grammatical function is derived — and must be derivable — from the letter that performs it.

    Corollary. The Masoretic dagesh forte is not a phonemic feature of this language. In the original consonantal text as preserved in the Dead Sea Scrolls, letter doubling does not exist as a primary structural feature. The dagesh forte is a diacritical addition introduced between 600 and 1000 CE. In all cases the DSS consonantal text is the authoritative source.

  3. State not time

    This language has no concept of time as a dimension. It recognises only states of existence: something exists, something exists continuously, something is moving toward a completed state, or something existed but is no longer active. There is no past, present, or future as positions on a timeline.

  4. Triconsonantal root positional grammar

    Every three-letter root encodes a complete minimal proposition: Position 1 establishes the Domain, Position 2 establishes the Modality, Position 3 establishes the Resolution. Letter order is not arbitrary. A root is not a label — it is a proposition.

  5. Relational completeness

    The stem matrix covers every logically possible configuration of source, action, and recipient. The language can express any relationship precisely.

  6. Derivational transparency

    Every word in this language is fully derivable from its constituent letters by a reader who knows the foundational system. No word requires external memorisation of an arbitrary meaning. If a word's meaning cannot be derived, either the analysis is incomplete or the form is not a valid word in this language.

Section 2 — The logical hierarchy

The language is organised in six levels. Each level derives entirely from the levels below it.

Section 3 — The 22 letter logical operations

The alphabet is the language's foundational meaning system. Each letter carries a sound, a pictographic glyph, and a logical operation derived from that glyph's inherent function. Version v2.3 adds the name-root analysis: each letter's name is itself a Hebrew word whose positional grammar produces a precise self-definition. The letter names name themselves.

The five vowels (Aleph, Hey, Waw, Ayin, Yod) are produced with an open vocal tract — pure resonance, primary semantic weight. The seventeen consonants constrain, direct, and specify.

On notation. The IPA symbol j is excluded entirely; the J sound did not exist in any language until approximately the 14th century CE. The symbol y is used throughout for the consonantal Yod sound. Sin is a scribal variant of Samek producing the same S sound — a variant of one letter, not two distinct letters.

Section 4 — The root system

22 letters × 3 ordered positions × no repetition = 9,240 possible roots. Approximately 1,500–2,000 are attested — 15–20% of the available space. The remainder is reserved for systematic assignment to concepts the ancient corpus did not need to express.

Section 5 — One and two letter words

One and two letter words are not diminished roots. They operate between propositions rather than within them. Apparent polysemy is not ambiguity — it is one logical operation expressed across different domains.

Section 6 — The stem matrix

A stem is the same root proposition viewed from a different relational angle. Analysis of the Proto-Semitic stem system across related languages reveals twelve distinct relational configurations. Biblical Hebrew attested only a subset — not because the others were invalid but because the Torah's narrative did not require all possible relational configurations.

Section 7 — Morphological operators

Prefixes and suffixes reposition root propositions within larger relational contexts. Each operator derives its grammatical function directly from its letter's logical operation.

Section 8 — The structural coherence principle

The Domain–Modality–Resolution logic governing the three positions within a root also governs the three classes of morphological operators around a root.

The prefix–stem–suffix system is a second-order application of the same Domain–Modality–Resolution logic that governs the root itself. The language is self-similar across levels.

Section 9 — Level 5: the word extension system

Every word is either a root in a stem configuration, or a root extended through one or more of four mechanisms. Extension does not change the root.

  1. Prefix extension Confirmed

    A prefix operator attaches before the root and operates on the Domain — Position 1.

  2. Suffix extension Confirmed

    A suffix operator attaches after the root and operates on the Resolution — Position 3. The Hey suffix does not mark grammatical gender. It marks the fullest outward expression of the resolution.

  3. Combined prefix and suffix extension Confirmed

    Combined extension places the root within a defined domain context and specifies the nature of its resolution simultaneously.

  4. Internal vowel pattern Awaiting corpus validation

    A vowel letter present within or immediately adjacent to a root consonant cluster signals the ontological class of the root proposition — what kind of existence the complete proposition has. Formally derived from first principles; awaiting systematic corpus validation.

Section 10 — The dagesh resolution

Three independent lines of evidence converge on the same conclusion regarding the Masoretic dagesh forte.

  1. First principles

    The Masoretic pointing system is a diacritical addition. Axiom 2 requires every phonemic feature to be present in the original consonantal text. The dagesh forte does not meet this requirement.

  2. Dead Sea Scrolls textual evidence

    The DSS consonantal text does not show letter doubling as a primary phonemic feature. Where the Masoretic text shows dagesh forte on a single consonant, the DSS shows that single consonant written once.

  3. Empirical audio production

    During Psalm audio production, copyright detection flagged sections containing Masoretic dagesh forte patterns rendered as geminations. Removing the doublings resolved copyright detection — confirming that Masoretic and reconstructed pronunciations produce genuinely different phonemic fingerprints.

This is why the converter never doubles a letter, and why it strips every Masoretic mark before processing.

Section 11 — The self-referential methodology

This analytical dimension deepens the understanding of every letter's logical operation through three independent witnesses for each letter.

The letter name as root

Each letter's name is itself a Hebrew word composed of Hebrew letters. These names encode the letter's own function through the positional grammar of the letters that spell them. The word Aleph (Aleph-Lamed-Pey) derives: originating force / authoritative guidance in service / expression of inner reality outward = the originating force that guides with authority and produces outward expression. The letter names itself.

This is not circular reasoning. It is the system being consistent at every level. Two independent things — the letter's pictograph and the letter's name — confirm the same logical operation from different angles.

The Psalm 119 stanzas

Psalm 119 is an acrostic in which each of the 22 sections is composed under the heading of one Hebrew letter, with each verse in that section beginning with that letter. The composer — identified through Craig Winn's translation as Dowd (David) — deliberately chose vocabulary and themes that exemplify the letter's principles.

The letter's pictograph, the letter's name, and the letter's Psalm 119 stanza are three independent witnesses to the same underlying logical operation. Where all three agree, the operation is as confirmed as it can be without exhaustive corpus analysis.

Section 13 — The path forward

The theoretical framework is complete and internally consistent at every level. Version v2.3 completes the self-referential letter analysis. The primary remaining tasks are empirical.

A formal teaching document with worked examples at every level, pattern tables derived from corpus analysis, and exercises developing the student's capacity to derive and construct words from first principles.

With 9,240 possible roots and morphological operators producing millions of derived forms, the system has orders of magnitude more expressive capacity than any human civilization has needed. This language is not being invented. It is being completed.
